Stewart‘s Mill war hier bereits schon länger in der Liste (siehe erster Beitrag), die Brennerei befand sich lange Zeit im Planungsstatus. Nun ist die Baugenehmigung erteilt worden.
Prominente - und hoffentlich solvente - Geldgeber hat die Muff Liquor Company im Örtchen Muff, County Donegal, an der Grenze zu Nordirland, schon mal, jetzt müssen sie nur noch Whiskey herstellen.
The firm was set up by Laura Bonner back in 2017, and the company has now transformed a former car dealership in the centre of the village into a distillery.

Fun Fact: der Standort der Brennerei ist nur ca. fünf Kilometer entfernt von der Royal Oak Distillery.
Es soll wohl nicht sein, dass die Familie Walsh eine eigene Brennerei als Heimat für ihre Abfüllungen (z.B. The Irishman, Writer's Tears) bekommt.
Bereits im März 2025 wurde die Erteilung der Baugenehmigung verweigert.
Aus den Gründen: The notice for the decision said that the development had the “potential to negatively impact on yield for the public water supply in the town” due to the location of a private borehole." The council also cited “insufficient information” over the possibility of a connection to the Uisce Éireann infrastructure network in the area in relation to water supply and public wastewater collection. It also noted that the Planning Authority had inadequate information over the “full nature and extent of the proposed development within the scope of the Chemicals Act”. As such, the council noted that the development would be “prejudicial to public health and safety”. The council’s decision notice also highlighted that the development’s use of biofuel/light diesel oil instead of gas had not been assessed in the submitted Natura Impact Statement.
Hätte ja nicht gedacht, dass ich diesen Thread angesichts der gegenwärtigen Lage so schnell wieder bespielen werde, aber es geschehen noch Zeichen und Wunder:
Im County Down. Die sind dort alle sehr umtriebig und von keiner der dort ansässigen Brennereien (Copeland, Echlinville, Hinch, Killowen) habe ich bisher bad news gehört.
Der Bauantrag ist eingereicht, die Daumen sind gedrückt.
