A bottle of Karuizawa 50 Year Old, bottled at 65.2% ABV and presented in a carved yew case. This is one of only two bottles from a distillery that is highly prized the world over.
Sukhinder Singh, director of The Whisky Exchange, says 'This is the best Karuizawa I've tried and possibly one of the best whiskies I've ever tasted, full stop. The tropical notes are just incredible. It definitely sits on a par with the best Bowmore I've tasted from the 1960s.'
This is bottle number 1 of 2.
Karuizawa was founded in 1955 and was Japan’s smallest whisky distillery. In 1959, it became the first Japanese distillery to export whisky overseas. Karuizawa distillery stopped production in 2000 and closed definitively in 2011.
